Not the most exciting, but quite important (and useful!).
I had a number of calls with companies based in Europe, America and Canada last week and a common theme came up... Visas.
Since we (the UK) have left the EU our ability to work in European countries has changed hugely. Our French partner agencies are saying that it's a minimum of 6 months for visa applications for UK citizens - this means that if you're hoping to get abroad for work in the 22/23 season you really need to be thinking about applying for your visa now. To top it off there is no guarantee that you'll get it either - what a kerfuffle 😬
More positively though Canada (new partnerships launching in Whistler soon!) are saying it's only about 3 months. Even better, their process for applying (if you're doing nannying anyway) seems to be a little more straightforward and much more likely to be granted.
Leaving the EU got rather lost amongst Covid but it has changed things and so if you want to travel / work abroad at all then I would recommend investigating your visas now - to be forewarned is to be forearmed and then you can do something about it!
As we develop our partnerships with different agencies we will put a crib sheet together for our graduates with more information on how to apply and what the visa process is, plus other things to think about.
ps. the French are hoping we'll have a much easier visa system soon, but they think it's unlikely to be ready for the 22/23 winter season.
